Interesting. I've been trying to work out what's been causing my knee
problems, and I suspect that they may have started shortly after I
bought my SPD pedals a couple of years ago. I get a fairly severe pain
in my right knee if I put too much pressure on it, that stays for the
rest of the ride. The knee is fine when I'm not riding the bike.
My best guess is that the trouble is caused by my feet being held
rigidly in place, restricting the lateral movement of my heels,
leading to pressure being applied to the knee when it's not quite at
the right angle. But it's just a guess.
Has anybody else had this kind of problem?
It's common, although fortunately I've never suffered myself [touches

or are they strictly for road shoes?
The Time ATAC pedal has a cleat which is of similar or even lower
profile to the SPD cleat and are designed to work with SPD style shoes
- it's essentially a mountain bike pedal, you have to be able to run
with it. It's a completely different design from the Time road pedals
(Impact, RXE, RXS).
