I have been using an HST style routine for the last few weeks, and
like it. I was thinking about cycling my upper body exercises from
day to day.
e.g. one day of the cycle do flyes, the other day to bench. This
would help me as i have a problem with my elbow, which is less
affected by flyes than pressing movements. My question is would this
cycling of exercises every workout reduce the effectiveness of the
routine?
I ask this because I know part of the effectiveness of HST is
attributed to the fact that muscles are supposedly not allowed to get
into catabolic state, due to the limited time between workouts. As
different exercises hit different 'parts' of the muscle, will this be
detrimental to growth?
Maybe it would be better to cycle my exercises weekly, as in straight
arm exercises in the first week of a rep cycle, and pressing exercises
in the next?
Hope that this makes some kind of sense!
Cheers,
J
