    I agree with everything in it though...

    Why would they embargoe that press release? There's nothing in it that's
    time sensitive. It looks like one of those easy press releases where a
    little known organisation attacks a well known institution - with little
    chance of success - in order to get some publicity.

    They gave a list of things that Top Gear is famous for. What are Transport
    2000 famous for? Sounds like another SafeSpeed.

    FWIW, I ride a bike. I also drive a car, and have been known to get on the
    occasional train or plane. I also like to be entertained. Luckily, the BBC
    will leave Top Gear alone.

    Pete.

    =================================================================

    Spokesperson for Transport 2000 Steve Hounsham said: “Everyone is
    talking about how to reduce car use, cut climate change emissions
    and make the roads safer but, to quote in perhaps its own language,
    Top Gear effectively sticks up its fingers to this.

    “There is a strong danger that it encourages irresponsible motorist
    behaviour and it therefore has no place in public service
    broadcasting. We want to see Top Gear taken off the screens. It is
    irresponsible, out-dated television designed to give comfort to boy
    racers, ‘petrolheads’ and those from the ‘get out of my way’ school
    of driving. We would like to see it replaced with a new programme –
    perhaps called Third Gear – that promotes sensible driving in
    sensible vehicles.

    All the above seems entirely fair to me.

    Annoying the likes of Mr C.

    =================================================================

    .... In an infamous episode, Jeremy Clarkson tore up on camera
    information from Transport 2000’s website presenting the dangers of
    speed.

    Transport 2000 are not a one man band.

    I will always explain revoked keys, unless the UK government
    prevents me by using the RIP Act 2000.
