Thanks to those who responded to my emails the past few days - it helped me decide on my next bike - and I bought the Trek Nav 300 - and am happy with this decision. I do think the Specialized Exp Deluxe was a better bike - shifters and front fork throw / maybe components also - but for my riding (weekends 15-25 miles), I think this bike will be perfect. I saved $80 getting the Trek, and will use this money for some other bike accessories.

Glad you're happy with your investment, Scott. There's nothing wrong with that bike. Did you have the shop add your Rapidfire shifters?
I know a local guy who rides Trek bikes, but he's overseas right now. His name is Lance.
