Black Slick Tires

I'm looking for a new set of tires for my road bike. I would like to have a no-treaded tire all-black. I like fancy blue shoulders but according to Sheldon Brown et al they're only a marketing issue. I don't want a tread on the tire becuase IME it's the first place where little cuts occur. The problem is that such a black slick tire is almost impossible to find. I know only Ritchey Race Slick. Any other idea? How are these tires? I want them to last for a reasonable mileage and it's quite important they can be installed easily (like Conti Sport 1000, for example, not like any Michelin). I'm looking for a new set of tires for my road bike. I would like to have a no-treaded tire
all-black. I like fancy blue shoulders but according to Sheldon Brown et al they're only a marketing
issue. I don't want a tread on the tire becuase IME it's the first place where little cuts occur.
The problem is that such a black slick tire is almost impossible to find. I know only Ritchey Race
Slick. Any other idea?
How are these tires? I want them to last for a reasonable mileage and it's quite important they can
be installed easily (like Conti Sport 1000, for example, not like any Michelin).
Suggestions? Comments?

I have Michelins on my road bike all black no tread . Not that hard to change a flat . Looks fast
not that I have that many flat with these tires .

Yes, but Avocet tires are not distributed in Italy :-( Only saddles, pumps and ciclocomputers are
available. Vredestein Fortezza could be another good choice but, again, they're very hard to find in

Apparently you have internet access. Therefore, Avocet tires are available in Italy. Just order them
from some place that sells them, such as Harris cyclere where Sheldon Brown works.

My Michelin Pro Race tires are black with minimal tread.

I really like the Bontrager Race-X-Lite. Somehow I doubt you'll be able to get them in
Italy, though.

I Think the Hutchinson Carbon Comp is all black. I know it's 100% slick. But there has been talck
about them cracking too. Tread only, so far.

Bontrager Race X Lite. Expensive but the best road tire I ever use. Been cycling for 25 years. Have
used 3 sets, get about 3000 miles per set.

at www.bike24.net they have some schwalbe tires that are all black (and of course many michelin,
conti, hutchinson,...) The site is in Germany, shipping is free to Switzerland and I think to Italy
too. (look in produktcatalog->rennrad & triathlon->Reifen & Schläuche) IMO prices are pretty nice on
many items there. Hope this helps!

I second the vote for Michelin Pro Race tyres... They stick like glue in the wet too... just be
careful of riding through glass... Make sure you fingertip your wheels afterwards, as they pick up
glass very well....
