Shame about the farmers? The Aran area is renowned for access problems. You
were lucky he let you cross his yard at all. Normal behaviour would be a
shotgun wielding Geoff Myland. :-)
Hopefully this area will benefit from CROW access later this year.
Looks like you had a good day.

p.s. what do you use to put the thumbnails on your page??? Hard graft or is
there a short cut?

Lee,
Meant to say have looked at your site a few times and like the lay out
etc...nice site. Been thinking of doing a website for my own personal walks
etc and wondered how hard it was to put together a website like yours?

Guys,
Cheers for the positive feedback.
I think that web design is as easy or as difficult as you want to make it.
I spent a lot of time learning html to start with, but don't need a great
deal now as all the pages use templates that I have previously built. There
are plenty of programs that you can use for design that negate the need to
ever use code in a site - such as frontpage/word/dreamweaver etc.
The difficulty is finding a decent host. I use Machosting, who someone in
urw recommended in the summer, and pay them about £4 a month. There are
plenty of free hosts about, but having used a variety of them, haven't found
one to be entirely reliable. For messing around building a site and
learning code use someone like portland.co.uk. who will give an ok level of
service and a tiny amount of space to play with.
Hope this helps,
Lee

Dave,
I use an application called extreme thumbnail generator to build the
galleries. I would not recommend this to anyone as the html it crunches is
garbage, and I had to customise the templates to get them to work! There
has to be a better way to build galleries, there has to be a better way!
In all seriosness it works great now - but you shouldn't pay good money for
something that you then have to teach html to when the whole point of it is
that you shouldn't have to need to use code!
I did try writing the gallery code myself but it was just to much of a chore
to write the code and format the thumbnails. How much of an issue that is
would be dependant on how many photos you wish to put in a gallery at any
given time.
Regards,
Lee

Ok, thanks Lee. I do have some free gallery software with my hosting that i
might use then, see if i get results.
I'd like to put up to 10-20 per route up (depending on quality of pics)
I dont like the thought of html, i'm a confirmed wysiwyg Dreamweaver user!

Bill,
I did consider that......but then thought about the amount of urw lurkers
who would try to sue me for repairs to cracked monitor screens. There are a
couple hidden away in there tho, but only the ones where my hair looks ok!
