Yes first day, descending from the start to Jindabyne. As far as I know
first "accident" fatality although there have been 3? "heart failures"
    over the years.

Yeah Jack, I was also on the ride and it was a damn shame about the
fatality, as you stated, it was the first in the ride's history (relating to
an accident that is), I was also surprised to hear that nobody fronted with
any info about that accident as I can't beleive with all the riders that
were going down the hill at that time that nobody seen it happen,
    supposedly.

Only bit that I heard was she was going too quick and failed to take a
corner and hit a guide rail then something else, dying the next day in
hospital and here I was feeling sorry for myself that I had a fall (walking,
but not [censored])) the night before the start, landing on my knees on the
    bitumen and was
laid-up for the first 2 days...didn't have the thrill of riding down
    Charlotts Pass....BUGGER!!

Yeah I was the one with a bandage pad on both knees....remember me?????????
hahaha....it was a real mongrel trying to crawl into a small tent with 2
crook knees and 3 bruised ribs but funnily enough it didn't hurt too much
while i was riding, I s'pose I got to do about 400kms out of the 550km ride.

No, I was on the ride, am something of a sad case having done all the NSW
big rides but one. Actually knew one of the guys, wonderful old digger,
lived for cycling, died in his sleep on the last night. What a way to go.

I wonder how Old Tom went at the finish. He was a real trooper that old guy
and a real decent bloke to match. He told me he'd been on 20 of those big
rides including the Vic & Qld ones as well, and at 81 yrs of age, he still
doing them....Long live Tom, I wish i got to see him before departing
    Kiama.Maybe this year!! DJ
