chains, anyone?

you can buy record chains from probikekit.com for $53. I reckon thats cheap but its all relative i guess.
I have had two chains on my current 10 speed centaur setup and they have both lasted around 10,000 k's each, so i dontthink its a general problem with 10 speed chains.
I guess if people want more gears there is a trade off in the durability of the chain. I have had the same chain on my fixed wheel for 18 months and it is still going strong.

That's about how long you're supposed to run them before
replacement, although I've never had one misbehave after
that sort of distance. As someone else said, keep it clean.

And always ride on the large chainring to reduce the
force exerted on it :-)

I've just stopped riding altogether. It's saving me heaps on parts and
maintenance.

My current Wippermann Connex 1008 10 speed chain has done 15,037 km.
Since this is the first of the month, I've checked its wear today.
It's .50 on a Park CC-2 chain checker. That counts as an almost new
chain. I keep it clean and lubricate it once a week.

Break the budget? About $100.
