The rain is blowing past my office window, I have some sort of bug, and the
polar bears have retreated up north for another year. Spring has definitely
arrived!

I don't know how you can wear all that at once; my all year round wardrobe
are bib shorts and a long sleeved summer Fox top for the 15 mile each way
commute to work. The only thing that changes from winter to summer is
whether I add an Ozzo windproof and the socks go from light to heavy
coolmax. I guess it must be my added insulation and thick northern blood
(blood group, gravy!).

I did get some bright front lights and have two Cateye
rears though!

Southerner is of course a relative concept; as another example of one,
when I lived in Newcastle there was a general agreement that a Cockney
was anybody from south of the Tyne; beginning in Gateshead.

Anyway, according to my thermometer where I'm sat it's 12 deg C, the
external temp is 7 deg C, and if that's spring I want my money back,
it's broken already. Dundee, I notice, is a whole ONE DEGREE warmer, you
lucky people.

Depends where in Dundee: there's enough elevation within the town for
the lapse rate to get rid of that. Up at Ninewells it's basically the
inside of a cloud, so if that's luck I want *my* money back! :-(

Can't see across the Tay from the lab cafeteria either.. That's very low
cloud indeed. So low it is making friends with the haar (sea fog, funnily
enough, the same word in Norse).

All this just after a thread where I pointed out how lovely Dundee's weather
is ;-) Oh well, it means I woun't have to water the allotment this week.

That must have been a thermometer inside somewhere - on the way in for my
lecture at noon I regretted that I hadn't put on my gloves. Maybe it was
the windydrizzlechillfactor
