I'm ordering a new bike and I have my choice between these two compact cranks; Bontrager Race-X-Lite or FSA SL-K MegaExo.
I would like to know if anyone has any thoughts, opinions, pro's, cons, around stiffness, bearing reliability, shifting between rings, etc. The FSA's are slightly more expensive, but that is not an issue. Also, I believe the FSA's may be slightly lighter as well.

I'll bet they are made in the same place in Taiwan. We have installed more than a few FSA one's including the new aluminum Gossamer model..like them a lot.

Most Bontrager compact cranks that I have seen are 50-36. Not necessarily bad, but different from the 'standard' compact gearing of 50-34. Also, the MegaExos use the outboard bearing design (similar to DA), while I believe that the Bontragers use ISIS (could be wrong). If you believe the hype, this has a few advantages. Outboard bearings are supposed to offer increased BB longevity due to the ability to run larger (standard) sized bearings while the tight confines of a 22mm ISIS spindle in a standard BB shell require smaller, custom, less durable bearings. Finally, if you fancy yourself a Petacchi type (or a clydesdale), you'll be comforted to know that the oversized BB found in the MegaExo BB coupled with the wider bearing stance supposedly serves to lessen overall BB flex.
