Had my first ride in ages this morning, in fact since June last year; yes I know I've been lax. I did a 19 mile round trip in an hour and ten minutes as I was taking it easy; I didn't want to bonk or get cramp seeing as how I hadn't been out for a while.
I feel really good now, there's still a slight warmness in my thighs, but over all there's nothing to indicate that I was out. Hopefully I'll be able to get out again over the weekend.
Cheers,

All uphill and against the wind, no doubt...
Is there any up hill in Cambridgeshire...? Even more amazing was the fact the wind was only a problem on one leg of the square I rode. So over all it was a good wee ride.

How dare you. There's railway bridges and the north face of Gog Magogs to test you.
The North Face of the Gog Magogs is the wrong side of Cambridge for me, I've just got the South Face of the Wilburton escarpment, all of about 200 metres on length. ;-)
I went out again yesterday and even though it seemed like I was going much faster etc, I only got round the 19 miles two minutes quicker. I supposes that since I was in the same gear, I was never going to be *that* much faster.
I also went out for a small run immediately after. Totally weird feeling as my thighs thought they were still cycling for the first 100 metres or so.
Cheers,

Seriously, if you want some hills, head south of Cambridge towards Saffron Walden or south west towards, Chrishall. The hills are not big but you get some 300ft climbs onto the Hertfordshire hills. The other local hill is Barrington hill by the cement works which will give you a good workout for a short distance from either side.
