temperature dropping below 5 degrees.

Full foul-weather gear would be more appropriate, judging from the current
webcam images at http://www.fhc.co.uk/weather/live/

There was still snow lying on Bleaklow on Sunday, at all of about 2000'.
The forecast that day was off by miles - it was shrouded in mist or low
cloud all day, visibility was about 30 yards, and it was perishing cold in
the wind.

OOI, at what point do others put on crampons ? I don't own any and tend not
to go out in suitable conditions, but a friend took me up the Glyders a few
weeks back after the recent falls. He brought some in-step crampons along
for me, but we managed just fine without them, despite spending about 3
hours above the snow line. Hardly any ice, mind.

Perhaps I should get some for my morning walk to the newsagents in freezing
weather. Conditions at sea-level often seem to be far more perilous,
especially now that the authorities don't bother trying to deal with
pavements and neither does any householder (apparently if you clear the
snow, you must do it completely or you may be liable for having made it more
dangerous than it was when left alone).

I don't think it was I who found them originally, but even
so...
Caveat - I haven't bought or tried them, so can't comment on
whether or not they're any good.

I had stored the URL originally and that also failed, so I tried:

This proved fruitless, then I spotted a search option in the top RH
corner and I entered "Ice Grippers" and went straight to the page.
