If hes reffering to body fat as a pecentage (I cant find the actual
study online so cannot verify either way ) then this holds SOME water
as a theory , althoguh the wording by the journalist is a little vague
on this .

Quoted message said:I'm going to , but in the meantime I was hoping for some informed
discussion here, as 3 times a week doesn't seem to fit into most
peoples idea of overtraining.
It said they did "upper-body training three times a week for eight weeks".
For me exercising upper body 3 times a week would definitely be
overtraining. I did that for years and at the very beginning the gains were
great but from then on they were virtually nonexistent.
Now I only work out twice a week total and am in better shape then ever
before. After taking years off because of being burnt out (overtraining) I'm
still amazed that now spending only about a quarter of time in the gym as I
used to how much more I enjoy it there and how much better I feel.
I spent too much time listening to my former workout partner, and because he
could get stronger working out that much I tried it as well even though
subconsciously I knew it was to much for me.
I am your classic hardqainer, I was so skinny before I started working out
that I couldn't even give blood. My experience may be different than yours
but it is something to think about.

Uh, yeah. Where do you see "once a week" vs. "three times a week?" I
see one set of eight reps compared to three sets of eight reps., both
performed three times a week.

That article is full of [censored]. Full stop. Arnold Schwarzenegger recommends
that you should work out 6 times per week and do 24-30 sets per workout.
Anything less than that is not even worth considering. This article is
typical (s)HIT propaganda.
The dirty secret about HITers is that they are lazy. HITers don't want to
to
put in the necessary time and effort it takes to sculpt and define their
bodies. HITers gets their information from the Internet--a haven for child
pornographers and hate speech criminals rather than credible sources such as
"Men's Health" and "Muscle & Fitness" magazines. In these publications you
get
valuable information straight from the champions, and if you want to look
like
them, just follow their workouts that they share with the readers!
I'll concede that there have been some HITers who competed in world-class
bodybuilding tournaments, most notably Mike Mentzer. But Mike Mentzer only
finished 5th place at the 1980 Olympia while Arnold Schwarzeneger (a volume
trainer) won first place after coming out of a 5-year retirement! The '80
Olympia proved that volume training is definitely superior to HIT training.
HIT training is [censored]. Remember: volume is the key to building long and lean
muscles.
