  1. Anyone use a mini for running? Does it skip? You can get a 4 gb mini for
not much more than a 1 gb shuffle.

Your best bet for running is a flash-memory based player, rather
than the hard drive-based ones you mentioned. Those weigh a lot
more, they do skip or have to be reset, and are big and expensive.

Definitely. I find HD-based players are heavy and skip prone, though lots
of others have success with them. I got a Shuffle a few weeks ago, and I
absolutely love it for running. It's light enough that you can carry it
right in your hand if you have to, and small enough that I often just tuck
it and the extra ear-bud cord right into the tiny pocket on the upper arm
    of my fleece sweatshirt.

  4. Apparently the iPods, across the line, are up to the rigors of running.
All I have is the original and the few times I have taken it out nary a
problem. I have questioned others with new models, including the mini,
about how well they worked and all have reported no problems. However,
everyone, including three friends, who have iPods, all say the shuffle
is better for running. More for the smaller form factor as the HD vs
    ram.

Well genarally the rule of thumb here is a spiderman outfit, but I know
Doug Freese occasionally wears a mini, but usually it's on saturday
nights when he visits that "special bar".

Just wearing a mini skirt will get you a beating, skipping will REALLY
    get you beat.

  7. i have a 30gb iPod and an iPod shuffle. the 30gb skips if i clip to my
belt (even when i walk), but not if i use an arm band. the shuffle
came with a lanyard and i've had no problems with it.

i'm sure you already realize that you can't choose a specific song with
the shuffle (you can only go backward or forward until you hit on a
song you're in the mood for). on the other hand it's kind of hard to
look at the little screen and and browse for a specific song while
    you're running anyway ...

i use the older iPod when i walk and the shuffle when i run.

the shuffle's battery takes forever to die, also. i like that ...

I've used a had the same mini for about six months now (and I've dropped
it multiple times) but it works wonderfully - I keep it on a waistband
when I run, and it never skips.
