Quoted message said:A couple hours before you go to bed, get out a carton of eggs, a jug
of milk, and a glass. Crack an egg into the glass, cover with milk,
and swallow down in one gulp. Repeat until full. The quicker you do
it, the more you can get down before you feel stuffed.
Is there any danger in eating raw eggs?
How well can can they be digested?
How high is the risk for salmonella, or other parasites?
I recall a media hysteria a while back about serving fried eggs with runny
yolks being a danger, and restaurants cautioned against the practice.
While I have a great deal of disdain for the safety freaks of all kinds,
what is the real danger in eating raw eggs?
Yeah, risk is never zero, but I haven't gotten sick yet. And I'm a
little bit annoyed with this pussification of America bandwagon that
everyone insists on jumping on. When I's a kid, we didn't wear
bicycle helmets, either, we knew how to take a fall, dammit!
And what's all this pussification gotten us? Fat and lazy and afraid.
So afraid that a teacher can no longer discipline an out-of-control
five year old child, but has to call the cops to take her away with a
plastic tie around her hands, and her feet shackled in handcuffs. I
suppose she'll have to show a doctor's script for Ritalin to be
allowed back into school now.

Oh, and there is some evidence that digestibility *may* be slightly
lower if you eat mostly egg whites, but I make up for that with
volume, so I don't see what the problem is. I'm not aware of any
parasites that occur in eggs. Guess you could cut your salmonella
risk to zero if you cook them til done, but I for one have a very hard
time eating many that way.
