  1. Hi, All:

Today's NYT (link below) notes, at the end of the article on a military
culinary competition, that the Army is developing some kind of a
"transdermal nutrient patch" so that service personnel like a downed
pilot behind enemy lines can go for up to three days without food
(wonder if that means water too?)...

Anyone know anything more? I mean, wow...I've always wondered why we
couldn't just pop some vitamin pills, you know, if the stuff's supposed
to be for real...I mean, if it's real protein, real vitamins and
minerals, why can't we just drink protein shakes and down vitamin
    pills??

This Army research seems to suggest that we can after all....

And down the road, Natick hopes to perfect a transdermal nutrient patch
that will enable soldiers to go without food altogether for three days
at a time under extreme conditions - when, for example, they parachute
    behind enemy lines.

It hasn't been too many years since Dexedrine was also included in
    survival
    packs

Which, aside from the stimulant effect, is an appetite suppressant...

Did Natick ever deploy the self-heating pizza slice they had in
prototype (no, I am not kidding)?
