Nice camera! $600 is too good to be true and since you "bidded" on it,
I would take this as the typical "send me a money order" scam. The only
things covered under fraud protection are the items that are won or
purchased from sellers who are qualified by eBay to offer the plan. The
email you will get will be from a faked address. Tell him to send the
letter so we can see where it came from. I'm curious.

He doesn't have your email addy per se, he emailed you through EBay's
site.
If you reply through the "respond now" link in the email, you'll have
the option of hiding your email address. For him to email you through
EBay like he did, he has to be a registered user (which he is according
to EBay's advanced search).
He has a feedback rating of 1 and is registered in France. He could
also have hijacked the account. Not someone I would deal with.

By posting the entire email, you have given all of us your EBay
nickname, something you may not want to do.

I not too sure I want to do that. I have a pretty tight computer, but I
also don't need to be testing it... I aint no c-geek.

I forwarded the email (and header) directly to ebay. Let's see what they
say.

If you decided in the future to sell something, some of those people
who like to do vindictive stuff like forge posts, etc. may be inclined
to mess with your auction by bidding on it with a bogus account and
then not pay for it after they have won causing you to lose fees and
have to relist your item.
You can get your fees back, but the hassle just isn't worth it. Best to
keep that info private. Selling stuff on EBay is a great way to pay for
other things and you'll find you have some stuff lying around that
someone else wants to buy.

An ebay seller can offer you 'only', an item for auction, with a 'buy it
now'.

I did look up the seller, and would stay away, however. The have one
feedback point, and they are from France.

No, the Digital Rebel/300D was a firmware neutered 10D and the Russian
firmware brought back many of the 10D features such as FEC, mirror
lockup, and custom functions to the 300D.

The Digital Rebel XT/350D isn't a neutered version of the 20D so there
will probably never be any 3rd party firmware, Russian or not.

Damn, I'll meet you at Zankou, I haven't had a Zankou fix in ages.

It pops out 70 shots in 30 seconds, instantly turns on, records to CF
much faster than my original Digital Rebel. My only gripe is that it
is much smaller than the original. OTOH it's going to be much lighter
and easier to pack when riding. I currently have a Tamron 24-135mm,
Canon EF-S 10-22mm, Canon 28mm f/1.8, Canon EF 35mm f/2, Canon EF 100mm
macro, and Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 L. The last being the only killer
glass I have.

Give Canoga Camera a call. I ordered mine about 2 weeks ago, don't
know if they sold out their first shipment yet.
