My brother just got a GT R Series 1 road bike fitted with a FSA SL-K Mega Exo crank/BB combination (i.e. one of these new crank designs with the BB axle being part of the drive side crank).
After his first test ride, we noticed that the left hand crank (i.e. non drive) was loose on the BB axle. When we tightened it up with the allen key bolt, the BB became extremely stiff. It wouldn't even rotate 360 degrees after spinning it quite forcefully with my hand (with the chain off).

Did you face the BB shell? and ensure it is 68mm? Essential. If the BB is not faced and larger than 68mm, and you used the included spacer, you are dragging the left arm against the 'face' of the BB cup. On a Calfee, we had to not include this spacer as the BB shell cannot be faced.

That's exactly what I had to do on my Calfee. When I tightened the set screw on the left crank to correct torque, the crankset was far too tight. I called FSA. He told me to remove that rubber-faced metal washer. He said the metal spacer that fits between the outside bearings held things at the correct distance. He said the only reason they included that washer was because some people couldn't stand to see a bit of the bearing threads.
