Don't stop there. Now you have a reference point, actually two. What
was the problem? Too wide? Too much pressure where? Then you can look
to see if the problem wasn't that you hadn't positioned it right, or if
you need the very different Brooks Pro, or Swift, or something else.
Rivendell popularized putting the nose down slightly, but I don't think
most people are well served that way. On a Brooks type saddle, it's
better for most people if the nose is up slightly.
Finally, you can also soak the saddle in oil, beat it with a baseball
bat, etc, so that it becomes much softer and will conform to just about
anybody. Won't last as long perhaps but if you can't get comfortable on
that, consider roller blading.á
