In a plastic bag, shake 1 cup of shredded coconut with 1 tablespoon
green food coloring until well coated – spread coconut on waxed paper
to dry for about half hour.

Those instructions are for the liquid food coloring.

1 T. food coloring to 1 C. coconut? Man, that will be some kinda
    GREEN. ;-)

I'd go with a half teaspoon to start, and then adjust as necessary.

    I always use a glass jar with a lid - like a pint-size canning jar - to
    shake it in.
