I have a pair of Diadora SPD shoes. They're ok, but only ok. I did try them on in the lbs, so there can be no compalints but after a few hundred miles I know there are better fitting shoes. I have wide feet and find Northwave fit the bill.

Although I'm told not all SIDIs are wide, so try before you buy. But I have two pairs of SIDIs - summer road shoes and winter MTB boots - and both pairs are far more comfortable than any other cycling shoes I've ever had. Can't recommend them strongly enough. Yes, they're expensive, but they're very, very nice.

I had the same problem with Shimano. I now have two pairs of Specialised (with all the Body Geometry features) and I would recommend you try them if you have wide feet.

If you have really wide feet, then the only thing that works is Shimano SD60 sandals. They have velcro closures across the ankle and just above the toes which will accommodate my FF wide feet no problem. I wear them all year round, even in the snow, doubling up on socks when it gets really cold. Hear, hear! Only problem: you need 2-3 sizes larger than your regular shoes, and the OP already has size 47, wich is the maximum size for SD60s. I have size 44 EEW (or was it EEEW?) work shoes and need size 47-48 sandals. Bought a pair of very expensive Northwaves but they're too narrow )-:
