  1. Hi all.

I'm new to this group and I have a question.

I started Atkins two months ago and lost about 40 lbs. We went on
vacation last week and I backslid into carbs again, but I went right
back into induction when we got back.

The first time on induction, I felt just like I had the flu on the
Wednesday after starting induction on a Sunday night. It was short
lived, but I felt like [censored]. I passed it off as a virus. But the
second time when I felt the same on Wednesday after starting the
previous Sunday night, I am wondering if it was the "induction flu" I
have been reading about. Both times it lasted around 8 hours.

It felt JUST LIKE I had the flu! I had a slight headache and felt very
weak and shaky, but my major symptom was the chills. I just could not
get warm. The only thing I can really compare it with was when I had
Type-A Flu about ten years ago, except I didn't have the fever.

Both times I felt great afterwards on Thursday and my energy level went
back up. If that is what I have to look forward to when I cheat, I
    know I'll never backslide again.

  4. Read the Atkins book or their website to get an idea on how to low carb and for
recipe ideas. Some on here has succesfully lost quite a lot of weight by using
the information found on the Atkins website. There are also other websites with
lots of low carb recipes for you to download for free, check the ASDLC's FAQ and
    Saffire's weekly low carb tips.

  5. I find that I just don't want to binge so much on Atkins. I enjoy my
food, but when I cut out high carb items, I don't crave a snack two
hours after a meal or want a second and third piece of cheesecake. (or
a first for that matter) The pounds have just melted off. I have lost
over an inch around my neck and dropped six inches off my waist.

To answer your question, though. I have stayed on induction the whole
time. I eat my complete quota of salad every day. I usually have
sliced chicken or turkey breast every day. I eat the low carb
Progresso and Campbell soups at lunch. I sometimes take a Polish
sausage and lots of sauerkraut to work for lunch. I eat a lot of
devilled eggs. I sometimes fix bacon and scrambled eggs. I eat a lot
of fish and imitation crab meat along with real crab legs and shrimp.
For a quick meal, I will defrost a hamburger patty and season it with
Lowry's. My veggies include green beens, cabbage, lettuce, cucumbers,
    broccoli, and celery.

I have been pretty active too. I have a full time job, a part time job
and I sell real estate too. Plus, I have four kids and a wife. I no
longer have time to watch TV (which is why I got fat in the first
place.) We have a treadmill (my only TV time) and we regularly swim at
    the YMCA.

Once I hit my goal weight, I plan on switching to South Beach, which I
had moderate success last summer. If I had stuck with it, I would
probably already be at my goal weight, Incidentally, I have been back
for a week now and I lost all the pounds I gained over my vacation. As
far as I am concerned, Atkins is magic.
