  1. The introduction of Zero Components allows for the GT i55 32, which is designed around 32-inch wheels. It is interesting that the model utilizes mountain bike hub standards to make this larger wheel size possible. From a value perspective, these specialized builds typically come with a premium price point.

    For those of us who prioritize reliability and fit, the move to a non-standard wheel diameter raises questions about long-term maintenance and part availability. Is the 32-inch wheel size a legitimate future for gravel bikes, or is it primarily an expensive experiment for tall riders? Also, how do you feel about the use of mountain bike hub standards on a gravel-oriented platform?

  2. A 32-inch wheel is a textbook example of an expensive experiment. Unless you're towering over the rest of the pack, the marginal gains in roll-over are completely negated by the nightmare of part availability and the inevitable loss of snappy handling. It's a niche solution for a niche problem.

    As for the MTB hub standards, it's a practical compromise to make the larger diameter work, but it's a bit of a slippery slope. Once you move to 148mm rear spacing on a gravel build, you're essentially admitting the platform has shifted away from road efficiency toward a mountain bike with drop bars. It's fine for reliability, but it's a far cry from the precision of a dedicated road or gravel standard.
