I recently bought a Marmot Helium. I've only used it once so far,
camping in cold (-10'C or so) temperatures. It performed admirably.
I had a few cold spots, hips and shoulders, but that is due to an

The Marmot Hydrogen is 227g lighter but is only rated to -1'C.

Thanks for the suggestions but have tried these suppliers already, not in
stock and wont be until April.

The Helium is too heavy for my needs.

Hello Gerard,

I noticed what you'd written, and thought I'd just drop a line to let
you know that I've used my Marmot Hydrogen a few more times in some
pretty cold weather over the winter now. I found that when the weather
dropped below freezing I needed to sleep in my clothes and zip the bag
up over my head to be warm. I was lovely and warm when I did that, but
if it had been much colder then I'd not have been warm enough.

I'm just mentioning this to add a bit more info, as I'm not sure what
sort of conditions you'll be using it in and a good bag is an
expensive purchase. If I'm going to be out in v. cold winter weather
then I'll probably take my Rab Elite Micron 500 - the current version
is the Quantum 400 - instead. Otherwise the small, light Marmot is
excellent :-)

Another option for colder weather is to use a silk liner as well, I
find they're good for an extra 2 or 3 degrees (as well as helping keep
the sleeping bag a bit cleaner).

I think snow and rock stock them. That's where I got my Helium from. I
think I wrote to Marmot in the end looking for suppliers.

Managed to find one today so waiting for it to arrive in the post. (See
other post)

Thanks for the extra information. I want it to do the Polaris weekend after
this.
For those who haven't heard of it its a two day mountainbiking event similar
to
orienteering, with an overnight camp, so weight is very important. Expect to
sleep
in my clothes anyway on this event. Have looked at specs for both the
Quantum 400
and the Helium and may get one next winter if this proves too cold but I
hope that
wont be necessary as I don't do a lot of camping in Jan or Feb.
