Days don't come much better.
About lunchtime I understood the bug that I've been struggling with for
a week, and having seen it, of course, solved it with a one-liner
(although I also had to take out a lot of debugging code, which took a
bit longer). And then, having achieved what I had planned for the day,
I took the bike out.
Such a perfect day: sun blazing down out of a deep blue cloudless sky;
the air so crisp and clear I could see the blades of the wind turbines
across the water in England, and once I reached the ridge, every
farmhouse and cottage to the Ayrshire border - breathtaking views. And
not a breath of wind. Still salt on the roads, so I took the Cannondale
and headed over the hill. Before I'd gone up a hundred metres I was too
warm and had to stop to take my woolen vest off. In the fields beside
the track lambs were gambolling in the sun; coming down off the ridge
as I splashed through a shallow ford and mating frogs scurried to get
away from me; a pair of stoats tumbled across the path in an apparently
not-very-serious fight. Just brilliant. And that bike just gets better
and better - I really love the tuning I've got it in now.
