I think its 2003 so would have come out in late 2002. Seems a good
price for the spec. Barracuda are a budget brand though and often seen
in lower end cycle shops and mail order catalogues. That doesn't make
them bad bikes though its just not a prestigious well regarded brand.

yeah I am well aware of that!!!
I only had 200 to spend (new baby so tight budget!!) and had a choice of
haro's a mongoose or other cheap brands all with 21 gears and no cassette
hubs and [censored] forks shop owner did me a special deal on the cuda at half
price (I go in there a lot), was told it was there top of range hard tail
not worried if it was good value cos im happy with it and I know that I
couldn't have got better with only 200 notes was just interested if anyone
else had bought one that's all??
