It's funny how there are always people bemoaning that there is no good
music anymore. Which is bs, in ten years you'll be saying the same thing,
but with current songs being the 'last great'.

I've heard all this before. There are good young musicians out there and
they are making good music. It just takes some time for you to appreciate
it.

10 years ago there was no great music since the Clash. Before that there
was no great music since Zep. Blah, blah, blah...

Download... I mean 'check out' some Powderfinger. They're an Aussie
band I think named after a Neil Young classic. Odyssey#5 was a
fantastic CD. 10X better than anything from Pearl Jelly. IMO of
course...

Commercial success requires that one find a balance between the two.
Many successful bands have become formerly successful bands by
forgetting this.
That brings me back to Jim's earlier post about Zeps self indulgent
pile of steaming [censored] that was Presence.

Hey..wait a minute here Bob. Presence is not [censored]. It is certainly Zeps
weirdest album..recorded after alot of tragedy in Plants life. He was in a
very bad car accident.
Its essentially a Page record with the rest of the band doing studio duty.
The guitar work is second to none.
But..ya..I remember when you could find Presence in the bargain bins.

or if you like something a bit more experimental
try Rush's Vapor Trails - not sure on the production
but the songs are all very different from thrashy to
arty. Both albums released in the last 3 years
