Last week I was doing a big climb up the canyon to a world famous ski resort (Alta). Since it was early in the AM and good weather, the road was quite crowded. Most of the folks were pretty good and gave my plenty of room as they zoomed by to enjoy the snow. The one exception was the oversized delivery truck that gave me about 1'-1.5' of clearance. I yelled the obligatory "@$$hole" after the fact and let it go.
Well, when I got near the top of the hill, there he was, unloading his stuff. He was a pretty big guy at close to 6' and about 200 lbs from what I guessed. You could imigine his shock when a 140 lb guy in lycra starts yelling at him about not running over cyclists. We exchanged a few words and I kept going. The crux of the exchange was when he said "There's not anything I can do about it now" and I replied "Well there's something you can do about it next time..."
When I got to the top, I put my skis on and made a run, which was cool. 🙂
BTW, it looks like the three foot law is going to pass here in Utah. (Cars MUST give cyclists 3 feet of room.)
Thanks for letting me vent,
L
