Glorious sunshine here in deepest rural Norfolk this morning, even though it is cold, so Vernon & I got warmly dressed & went out on our bikes. Within five minutes we found the only section of road in Norfolk that still has a couple of inches of ice still covering it. That was interesting - I rode it with a foot unclipped just in case bike & I needed to part company quickly ;-) Got past our very own little bit of ice sheet and then it started to snow. At first it was only a few flakes coming out of a sky that was still bright blue with nice fluffy white clouds in it, so we carried on. The next minute, the temperature drops by several degrees, the wind gets up and the snow comes down quite heavily. Actually it was blowing horizontally verging between a headwind and a crosswind. I am glad I wore my buff as by pulling it up over my nose & cheeks, I avoided snow in the lungs :-) It made for an interesting ride - it was actually quite good fun - it gave me a workout as I had to pedal hard in the headwind.
Got home not long ago - the snow stops & the sun shines once more. Glad I went out though.
Nathan's having a funny week this week. He's been horrendously tired all week. Indeed he's been exhausted - falling asleep at the end of the college day when he gets home. Yesterday he went out on a club meet and he had a really hard time - pleading fatigue when he got home - indeed he crashed out not long after getting home. Wonder if he's nursing a bug??? Hmmm...

We had about 2" of snow in Woodbridge first thing this morning. It had virtually gone by 9:30/10am

I'm asuming "Nathan" is not a pseudonym, and given that these messages will be archived for decades to come at Google, he must be a very understanding lad to allow his mother to discuss him on usenet. I'm not sure I would have been very happy about it...

what are the weather conditions like from a cycling POV around the country ? Another inch or so this am, went for a nice walk to take few pictures. By lunchtime it was all gone, replaced by rain and hail, and the wind has changed to westery (no planes over my house). Is this the end of it?

Been beautiful here all week. Cold, but not a lot of wind and bright sunshine out of a blue sky. Lots of salt on the roads, though, so I've been riding the 'Winter Hack'.

I needed to pick up some stuff with the car this week from work, I had planned to do it on wednesday but when I looked out the window and saw 10 cm of snow I just had to take the bike. I'm glad I did it was great fun so much faster than the cars. The roads were sheet ice where the cars were so most of the journey was done in the deep snow at the side of the road. -- Mark
