    Too little useful information
    Too little genuine support
    Too much flaming

I've seen this happen on many a group I used to enjoy. The trolls take
over and it just becomes too tiresome to read anymore. The ol' adage
about the one bad apple is very true, and there's more than one here,
    unfortunately...

  2. Because people are busy???

  3. I have been haunting newsgroups since 1996 and all groups seem to have an
ebb and flow. People lose interest in a particular group or get busy in
their non-cyber life. Some get irritated by certain posters and cannot make
themselves simply ignore that person. Then occasionally a new group of
people will arrive and liven things up. Some seem to think that it is the
duty of others to entertain and/or educate them. The best way to get a
group going in the direction you would like is to start discussions on the
subjects you want to see. Of course, threads will wander off the topic,
that's the way conversations are. To me newsgroups are more like a
neighborhood bar than anything else. When you drop in you will likely see a
few regulars and some passers through. There will likely be an obnoxious
drunk or two, some who are willing to lend a sympathic shoulder to cry on,
some who have very good advice to give, some who just are cheery and tell
    jokes....

  5. Maybe everyone reached their goal and are living the high life now with
    no time for newsgroups. ;-)

I don't know about everyone else, but I've had the flu. I lost about 7
pounds, though! Still coughing a bit and tire easily--but almost over it!

in fitness. Also l/cing is now "just the way I eat" rather than a new
diet I have to put a lot of time and energy into.

And some are getting lots of dates so there is less reason to sit in front
    of a computer!

    =============================
    1. Those it worked for lost the excess fat and left the group.
    2. Those it didn't work for left the group and gave up dieting.
    3. Those who couldn't hack all the salads, protein and fat left the diet for
    more variety.
    4. There are those who get off the Internet.....

    All NGs have a turnover.

    Wysong
    Age 60. Height 5'6"
    Starting date: 1/8/05
    171/ 164 / 140 lb
Starting date LC 7/01 at 207lbs
Stopped losing on LC 11/01 at 165lbs
    ==========================================

  18. They all left because they couldn't stand your incessant whining.
