Damsel's post got me thinking about Easter, which I've managed to ignore
quite blissfully so far this year. Here's my tentative menu:

    Artichokes with Lemon-Garlic Butter
    (Riesling)

Baby Greens with Grapefruit Sections and Mirin Vinaigrette
Roasted Lamb and Potatoes with Rosemary and Garlic
Green Peas with Mint and Butter
    Walnut-Olive Focaccia
    (Bordeaux)

    Strawberry [censored]

Some issues remain, and I hereby solicit opinions:

    1. Rack of lamb or leg of lamb? There will be six adults eating. Cost
isn't really a consideration. Last year I made three racks of lamb
for these same guests, and that worked out well; I'd think one leg of
    lamb ought to suffice.

Easy for you to say. I'll bet the lamb would like to have four!

    2. My guests aren't all that big on coffee. What would you want to
drink with the strawberry [censored]? (We'll be eating around 3:30 PM.)

Champagne. Or coffee. Maybe some Kool-Aid.

    3. The strawberry [censored] has a layer of cream cheese and whipped cream
holding the strawberries upright within the crust. Would more whipped
    cream on top be good?

Death By Whipped Cream. Not necessarily a bad thing, but how about some
kind of light glaze instead, for that glistening sparkle we do so love.

Would homemade ice cream be better?

That's just whipping cream in another form.

Or how about a dessert sauce, and if so, WHAT dessert sauce?

Yer gilding the lily again, Bob. Let the delectable strawberries (they
will be delectable, will they not?) stand on their own.

    4. I'm not all that sure about the Bordeaux with the main course. Any
    suggestions for a different wine?

    Thunderbird.

    LOL!

Reminds me of the joke that ends with, "A pig that good you don't eat all at
    once."

Tried it with the glaze last year. (I used melted red currant jelly.) Not
only is it a royal pain to make the glaze look good, but the taste testers
didn't think it added anything to the [censored].
