Hi.
I've been working out for a while now, but my lack of progress leads me to
believe that I'm not going about it in the right way. The thing is,
everyone I talk to has different advice, a different plan or method to
follow, different percentages of your 1rm to aim at for different things,
etc etc. I am now, as a result, very confused.
Basically, I throw stuff, balls, javelins, the odd cow, so I need a mixture
of power and short twitchity capability in my muscle makeup.
Some people have said do 4 x 6 reps at 80% of your 1rm, some say do 3 x 8,
some say do 3 x 8 but increase the weight from set to set, etc etc.
The thing is, I now have absolutely no idea which way to turn and what to
do. I have limited equipment and space, just a bench, two dumbs and a
barbell, in my spare room. I've been doing basic squats, presses and the
like, but don't know which plan or routine to adhere to.
I am guessing there's no such thing as 'the right thing to do', but surely
some of the methods different people have told me, are better than some of
the others. Any ideas? Is there a received wisdom or 'better' way to
approach my workouts do you think? I know this is a hard question, but
thanks for any help or advice.
