  1. Muscle Milk is on sale at Vitamin Shoppe and since I was running out of
Designer Whey I figured I'd try it.

Is this stuff as advertised or was I schnookered?

    TIA

What is muscle milk? Casein and whey or something?

Have you ever tried to make your own whey? I culture raw Jersey milk
(don't have to use raw milk of course though) with kefir grains (which
you can have people send to you for a small fee if you just search a
little on the net), and sometimes instead of just drinking the milk
straight I'll dump the milk into a cheese cloth (or t-shirt) and have
the whey just drip out into the bottom of a glass jar. Of course, I'm
not sure what the actual whey protein content is in it, as I'm sure
there's a lot of water there that drips down with it, but whenever I do
this I end up with a cheese type product and just drink the "whey kefir
water." For me, it's kind of the best of both worlds, because I get
fresh raw protein that also doesn't have the side effect of being hard
to digest since it's been broken down a bit by the kefir bacteria.

It also has creatine added in it.

A little too labor intensive, and not practical for the average city
dweller. Better to invest in a good quality whey protein supplement
where you know exactly how much protein you are taking in with every
    serving.

Yeah, I guess that's true. I never count my protein grams, I just eat
a lot of protein-rich foods (among other foods), but I guess a lot of
people want to know how many grams of protein they're consuming.

Noosenwe. Making whey from milk/lemon juice takes 30 seconds. About the
    simplest recipe there is.

You can calculate they exact amount of protein if you do it yourself.

I cant understand why people advocate powdered whey. Do the same people
    advocate powdered eggs too. Yuk.

Mixing creatine, carbs and aminoacids in liquid (their "ready to
drink" stuff) sounds like a bad idea:

    http://tinyurl.com/6yoal
    http://tinyurl.com/47892

Creatine is converted to creatinine in liquid but this will only make
the reaction go faster. One of these articles says that these
mutagenic/carcinogenic compounds form even at room temperatures, just
slower. So it's fine if you mix it and drink right away but not if
    it's stored in bottle.

Of course the most retarded thing is to heat up
    creatine/carbs/aminoacids shake in a microwave.

The creatine converts to creatinine rapidly in solution is BS and
invented by companies trying to push other forms of creatine (ie, Serum
Creatine scam artists, etc). Creatine is quite stable. From a report on
    the topic:

³Creatine in aqueous solution is reasonably stable for up to 8h at 25°C,
    pH 7.5 or 6.5. Breakdown after 3 days at pH 5.5, 4.5 and 3.5 was 4%, 12%
and 21% respectively. If Creatine is not used immediately after it is
dissolved in water it should be stored at a low
temperature to slow down the degradation. The solubility of Creatine
    Monohydrate is 14 g per liter at 25°C (1.4%) and 8.5 g at 4°C.²

Would I dump creatine into a low PH glass of hot liquid and let it sit
for hours? No, but under the normal uses of creatine, conversion is slow
and of no concern. Not sure how you view the studies you posted links to
really apply to this issue of creatine supplements.

"Ready to drink" means pre-mixed in water. Carbs and free aminoacids
    are listed among ingredients.

Ahhh, good catch there. The only MuscleMilk I know of is in powder form,
thus my comments. Didn't know they were doing a ready to drink. As they
used to say on SnL "never mind"
