  1. Hi, I'm 78 years old and I work out at the gym 3 times a week for a 1.5
hour. I do interval training first...1 minute at 10MPH, and 9 minutes
at 4MPH, three sets for a total of 30 minutes. Then the next hour I do
the free weights, bench pres, etc. I'm extremely careful about my food
intake, everything has to be balanced, not processed, natural and I
hydrate myself well. My general health , lipids, heart, blood test,
everything, are in excellent condition!!! I do take an adrenalin med
every day, (Hydrocortisone), because of low cortisol levels,
    (adrenalin)

One morning when I awoke I just couldn't get out of bed. I felt
extremely fatigued,, and decided to spend the whole day in bed. And the
next three, declining rapidly as I failed to take my Adrenalin meds.
(How smart can I be?) On the 5th morning I called 911 and spent the
next 4 days in the hospital.

After a week or so I visited with my doctor who had just received the
hospital records: DANGEROUSLY LOW ON ELECTROLYTES, SODIUM, POTASSIUM,
SALT, etc, etc!!! Yet when I checked into ER, I had no fever and a mild
    chest congestion, nothing else!

I understand what caused the drop in all the essential levels, but what
caused that sudden CRASH on the first day!!! It never happened before.
I was not really sick, just extremely fatigued to the point that
nothing else mattered but my bed.

    Any clues????

    Mike

You forget to tell us the important clue of your hydrocortisone
dosage. Any other meds or supplements you forgot?

Sounds like the after-effects of diarrhoea or similar. Could it be? Or,
sweating too much salt when exercising and not replacing it?

Run more often and for more time at that 6 minute / mile pace. That will
    solve your problems and ours.

Yes. Dangerous ignorance. Hydrocortisone is not an "adrenalin med" and
cortisol is not adrenaline. Your electrolyle levels are obviously related to
your underlying adrenal disease and/or the hydrocortisone you take for it,
but with your lack of understanding of your disease, you could easily be
    screwing something up.

It would be like a diabetic who's supposed to inject insulin, but is a bit
confused as to why, and isn't sure if its 10 units or 100 units.

You need to have a long talk with your doctor...the one who prescribed the
    hydrocortisone...and don't leave until you're a walking encyclopedia about
your disease process. You're paying for his time and knowledge. Use it!

You're obviously doing something right to get to a relatively healthy 78,
ya' old fart! I'd hate to see you kick off for some stupid reason.

Can Viagra overdose cause electrolyte imbalance 🙂
