Is this exercise beneficial in any way? Should I can it and replace it with
something else? I still do it as my "finishing" exercise, alternating with
either cable-cross overs, or the pec dec machine, or the semi-incline
dumbell flys.

Tis a good exercise for the middle of the pecs.
Depends if you want to train that area or not. -
Oh yeah...
Forgot to add, why do you do it as the finishing exercise all the time.
It would be better if you varied your routine tbh. -

Remember reading somewhere that Dumbell flies were superior as a chest
exercise to cable crossovers and pec-deck. Would seem logical as dumbells
are free weights and therfore would develop stabilizers more. -

sense as these are isolation exercises. -

I like using the cables (same as cable cross overs) and do a bicep flex
/ pose. Hold the grips, palms up with your arms straight out..parallel
to the ground. Pull the weight in keeping the back arm parallel to the
ground as if you were doing a bicep pose. -

I was thinking of the same thing yesterday. I didn't ask anyone, but I did
sort of a quarter rep of a concentration curl with the cables and it felt
good. We'll see how it goes. -

( ;- > ) wasn't enough of a give-away.I was trying to use sarcasm to make my point, guess it didn't work. I was
trying to point out the absurdity of trying to grow the middle of a muscle,
either the muscle grows or it doesn't.No, I think most of us understood.
I was going to comment 'how ironic' after both gman and hellrazor
responded to your post. But the image of gman doing a biceps pose with
cables was so disturbing I decided just to be thankful he doesn't work out
at my gym. We now have guys bringing dumbbells down to the olympic lifting
platforms so they can perform db curls in front of the mirrors. So
Wednesday I walked in and all four squat racks were being used for arm
curls AND there was a guy doing dumbbell curls on the olympic platform. These people need a killin'. Is there no station safe? Fortunately most of
the showboats leave the area when somebody starts really lifting weights.:^|
