  1. I am currently working/living in Japan. I will be finished with my work here at the end of July and will then have a month (August) of free time. I have always wanted to visit New Zealand, but I realize that August might not be the optimal month for touring. I come from Michigan, so cold weather is not a huge issue. I wanted to know if anyone has experience, or any advice on a possible tour of New Zealand in August. Being on this side of the world is nice, and i don't know when I will have the chance to come back once I return to the US. Thanks!

  2. It's not as bad as the USA winter sounds - depending which island you intend to tour. The southern south island will be fairly chilly at nights - below 0 centigrade. In general it wouldn't be a great holiday - it's fairly wet where i live but if you stick to the east coast of either island and don't mind the cold I suppose you could make a go of it.

  3. The best months are Dec - March, but I drove round the South Island in winter once and didn't strike any rain. Depends how lucky you feel.
