there are some very "not" nice people out there.... hope she recovers ok....

Because the AFP are the "beat police-people" in the ACT..... No state
coppers because, well, it isn't a state...

Mate of mine is a federal copper. After everyone graduates from the
academy, the scramble is apparently on to avoid posting to the ACT.
Anywhere else = glamorous job investigating high-level
national/international crime; but ACT = writing speeding tickets and
patrolling the 'burbs...

Gotta say I found ACT police to be some of the more reasonable police around

(I lived, drove and cycled in Canberra in the 1980s)

I rode a lot in Canberra in the 1980s. At the time I found Canberra drivers to be the most cycle-aware motorists in Australia. Although there can be [censored] in any city. Hope the rider recovers OK.

can equally assume - driver in shock without any first aid skills wasn't of any use.

so its ok to hit a pedestrian or cyclist and just drive off ?? without trying to help somehow ?? I believe that is why they have a law what is it again thats right, "leaving the scene of an accident"

of little comfort to the cyclist now though, she died yesterday.

🙁 sigh of exasperation, it's difficult to know what to think in regards to her devastated family & friends at a time like this.

Did the driver leave the scene of the accident? Or as Aeek suggests, was the driver present and suffering shock/unable to assist?

Anyway, its a bad business.
