Certainly some of their branches are franchised. A branch has recently
opened in Northampton so I guess all is still fine.

AIUI it is a franchise. The one in Crawley has become independent -
they served their minimum time (3 years I think) then bought their
freedom. Same people running it (Chris and his wife whose name I don't
know), staff vary - I've seen one of the mechanics working in 2 other
shops at different times.

The one in Redhill closed a year or two back. They were fairly short
of clue.

Thanks, walked past the Crawley one on Sunday night(preferable to going in
to "Are we there yet" with my oldest) did not realise it was the same
people, will pay them a visit.

Ditto the one in Putney (now simply Putney Cycles) which is a strange
mixture; it's kind of LBS in that the staff are generally knowledgeable,
friendly and capable, but it's got that chain store feel in terms of the
stock they carry (i.e. all ATBs, very few hybrids or road bikes).

Action Bikes in Edgware closed about a year ago.

Someone from a different Action Bikes shop gave a _very_ good
talk/demonstration to Barnet Cyclists last year. She certainly appeared
to have plenty of clue.

It is only a matter of time before Teesside International Airport is
rebranded "London Teesside".

That one always puts me in mind of Spruce Harbor International Airport
in the M*A*S*H books, which was given its name after a 747 landed
there when it got lost or something. The sign is bigger than the
arrivals hutch.
