When I go to an outdoor market, I see these large braids of garlic. How
would you keep them fresh enough to use all year, would they not dry out if
left hanging? I only buy 3 cloves at a time, and a jar of minced., but the
braids do look nice. Thanks for the input.

Well, they "don't" stay fresh. If they are exposed to any moisture
(steam, etc) they will mold. If kept dry, they will gradually dry out
over a few months. -

enough garlic to feed a small army in a short amount of time, that's all
they're good for. They definitely dry out.Jill

other
little decorative stuff, and 3 heads of garlic. Was pretty and little.
Well,
that is until my destructive mil stayed at the house one day and made
dinner. Oh, garlic! She took as many cloves as she needed and the little
wall decoration was ruined. I'm quite sure the idea of food as decoration
was completely incomprehensible to a depression baby. But, yeah, I wouldn't buy a garlic braid to cook with, the fact that they
took the time to braid it rather than just bag it tells me it's probably
old garlic they didn't sell.nancy

Braiding garlic is a [censored] of a job. Takes time and effort so it will cost
extra. Buy in bulk and keep as close to freezing as possible and keep the
humidity up and store in the dark.F.J.

~nancyMy friends make garlic braids with the garlic they grow, and gave me
one last year as a gift. By December (from May), the last few heads
were kind of dry.And trust me, it's not easy to braid the monocots when they're dry.

discovered mold on them. They looked really nice and I enjoyed them
until I found the mold. I find bunches of herbs last well though.Quoted message said:
