  1. Escaped from the kids and had a quick ascent of Black Combe this
morning - brilliantly and unexpectedly the sun shone! I really like
Black Combe as it sits on a detached, remote corner of the Lake
District - so I not only managed to escape the kids, I managed to
escape everyone else as well which is not bad for half-term.

Lovely hill... Its so much further south than you might expect and
crops up in views from lots of places..

Only been up once as a quicky raid one evening after a days climbing.
    Very enjoyable.

Once enjoyed looking at in the quieter moments of a dire football
match at Barrow.. Quite dominates the ground. (And Hereford won!)

  3. ...only once at Barrow AFC - you should try every week! (this season
anyway)....I do believe Hereford 'nicked' Barrow's place in the
football league in 1972, not that anyone ever remembers things like
    that of course!

    Not at all....

There is a lot of nonsense talked about that. It was due to the silly
    reelection system, long since discredited...

It has not been forgotten in Barrow.

Meanwhile our place has been "pinched" by Macclesfield. Nobody has
    any animosity towards Macclesfield.
