Bike accident in Perth

Speaking of accidents.
I just read that a cameraman was injured and taken to hospital in an
accident involving former HIH director Rodney Adler. I wonder if he was
insured?

There are regular groups who ride along the freeway between The Narrows
and Canning Bridge. Sadly, there is not much choice unless you want to
ride along Canning Highway and the Causeway (Both busy arteries in peak
hour)

There is pretty good visibility along that section, but it only takes
some drongo who is too busy talking to drift too far right at the wrong
time...

They're pretty good paths, some of them, all designed to Austroads Pt 14 etc
etc. And in some areas there's no option, as the road is a 6 lane freeway
with a 100kph spped limit and cycling's prohibited on it.... Mind you, if
you're off on a 45kph training ride with the super-lycra mob, then there's
better places to do it than on the paths...

with a 100kph spped limit and cycling's prohibited on it.... Mind you, if

Hey Dave does your family own some land near Collie?

Had some fun and games at Muja on Monday. Was doing some checks on the
fire system and set off a deluge valve that doused the hydrogen cubicle
on unit 8. Luckily everything was water tight, could have taken out half
the state. Yesterday we set a new peak load for the grid. About 3050
megawatts. I think the state government gave a big sigh of relief that
we survived it ok. The days when your dad was there are starting to look
like the golden days.

haha...they *were* the golden days, I was still at school and mortgages and
responsibility hadn't even been considered! I was glad to see WPCorp made
it through yesterday though, it could have been a bit bad....election coming
up and all.

BTW, who's Oscar?!? I saw him on r.b.t. as well and twigged it was you :-)

There's a crazy guy in America who harrasses me every time he sees my
name so I decided it's time to stop using my real name. He makes me
grouchy so I called myself Oscar after Oscar the Grouch from Sesame
Street. You'll probably see his whacky postings from time to time. I

along there with training bunches and they don't slow down at all for the
doglegs that the path makes around the end of the pedestrian overpasses...

I never rode in a bunch along there when the doglegs were there, but the
path was straightened out about 3 years ago when the bridges were replaced.

It was scary enough as a solo rider through the doglegs, I can't imagine
doing it in a bunch...

There are plenty of roads around the river and in the hills that should negate the requirement to hammer it down the freeway path between south st and the narrows. Plenty of group rides avoid the path. Its too dangerous having groups along there as there is only room for 3 bikes abreast. What happens when two groups converge? who gives way?.
Its an issue that has to be solved by those riding in those groups and is as simple as turning off the pace along the path and sitting steady until they reach mounts bay rd.

Ah, yes. Know the one. I find it hard to stay hard on the left when
heading south. That concrete wall says keep away... I've had my own
near misses there. (And under Canning Bridge, and Mt Henry...)

I hadn't heard that it was a couple of bunches that collided, but I did hear on the radio that the rider that was injured was 59 years of age.

When the Police were asking witnesses to come forward, wouldn't they already have enough with the riders in the bunches? They usually only call for witnesses when they don't have sufficient relaibe witnesses already. I suppose they wuold be hoping to get a witness who was just far enough away to see the positions of all the riders.

They often like to get third party witnesses to get a more unbiased view
of things. People subconciously take sides and often give "their" view
on what happened.
