My local bike shop has 2005 Trek 2100 for $1500 and several 2004 Trek 2100 for $1000. Is the 2005 model worth the additional $500?

(If both are factory stock):
From the following, looks like you're talking about basically the same bike with
very marginal + difference in wheels, - difference in stem/bars, and probably a wash on changes in cassette, seat and tires.

Certainly would not merit a 50% increase in price in my mind but that's just MHO.

Agree with serenaslu. Go for the 2004 model and later on if you decide to spend that $500, spend it getting better upgrades than what the 2005 would offer.

Not to sound like a parrot, but I'd go for saving the $500.00 and using it to better use elsewhere.

Why you dont ask for a 2004 2300 at $1,500.00, that wold be a good deal!!!
