  1. Hi all,

Will I be OK if I fit an 8-speed Acera derailleur to a
bike with a 7-speed cassette and 7-speed shifters (all
    Shimano)?

    Cheers,

Yes. I put a new 9 speed Deore rear derailleur on a bike with 1991 7
speed DX hub and 7 speed bar end shifters from the same period. All
Shimano. Shimano 7 speed cassette from a few years ago.

This will be just tickery boo.

When derailers are indicated as n-speed, this is marketing talk, not
    technical talk.

Well, there's a lesson worth learning! I'll keep that in mind
when shopping for bargain bits on eBay!
