You ride a bike, you get flats. I could have been one of a 100 things - bits out of a builder's ute, car fragments, snapped off knife blades . . . anything.

Just buy good tyres, pump them up hard, and dodge piles of debris.

Are all you cyclists this limp wristed?

Flats! Part of life. Today they’re a challenge to fix it fast & be rolling asap. I travel about with apowdered tube, levers, patches, shorty pump & a neato kit to dust off any pesky hissers before the rim hits the road.
Used to replace the tube, but found that patching with the wheel/tyre still on the bike gave the quickest turnaround. Even if the patch was kinda wet as it all gets pumped up it seems to hold OK.

I reckon being a cyclist, you just have to laugh in the face of advercity, flats, stacks, close calls & general misfortune haunts us all out there, gotta take it on the chin & carry on.

I was just checking in case this is some "known" object and there may have
been a lot more of them. I have since put in those plastic strips between
the tyre and tube. Later this year I will change my tyres for narrower ones
and will explore the options.

That's what I carry, and that's what I did. Off an rolling after 15 minutes.

Wow! I am impressed Bob. I have been a technician for almost 30 years and
dealt with thousands of people. I could write books on the seemingly silly
things I've seen done and silly questions I have been asked. Yet I have
managed never to be condescending to anyone yet.
