Torque Specs

Save yourself some grief.Everything on a bike can be cleaned without removing it. www.prktool.com has torque specs for alot of stuff,but beleive it or not ya don't need a torque wrench to wrench on a bike.

I would havle to disagree with that assertion. While it is not life and death to have a torque wrench, it is most certainly preferred and reccomended. You can be consistent without one, but to have one is to refference a standard, assuring propper torque. Do I use one on everything, no. Do I use it on critical things, by all means yes.

Thank you for the advice. I talked to one of the LBS in my area, and the chief mechanic there has given me advice. Actually he tough a course on bike maintenance which I took a long very long time ago 😄. Of course it was an intro course, nothing too serious :o. Anyway, he gave me some suggestions, and showed me some stuff in the shop, and said if I need more help to come back, and worst case bring in the bike.

I decided to remove most of the drive tranny components, because I had way too much build up of sand and grit, that I could not get in the locations to clean it all off 😠. I figure if I do this once a year, usually in the dead of winter, the bike will run smother over it's lifetime, and with less breakdowns.

I should have it all back together again in time for the arrival of my trainer. That way I can keep the bike from getting as messy by doing more biking indoors 😄. Sadly it's even safer indoors, with the snow, sand, and other crud, there isn't much room for us bikers out there. And, here, the millons of cars would love to run us into a ditch 😠.
