  1. I've been reading some articles on The Conconi Tests for measuring
aerobic, anaerobic and max HR thresholds. Most of the articles relate to
running but some mention cycling and due to the tight levels of
measuring speed and HR required it seems cycling is probably easier to
test. Has anyone tried these tests for cycling?

Here's a link to a cycling related test:

And here's one primarily for runnign but also includes some cycling.

"This test has been shown to be flawed (Jones and Doust, 1995)"

"There is no evidence that one of the most popular heart rate tests, the
Conconi-test or the Conconi deflection point, represents the lactate
    threshold"
    http://www.lactate.com/triathlon/trwhy.htm

If you wanted this information, I think "Dr. Blood" (dunno his real
name) runs V02max tests and blood lactate tests at VUT. I would imagine
that these lab tests would give a more accurate result. They cost more
than the DIY freebies though 🙂
