what size botom bracket /

The thread is important. English BBs have a left hand thread on the
right hand side and the shell is 68mm wide. Italian BBs are 70mm wide
and have a right handed thread on both ends. Does you frame have a BB
fitted now ? You'll know when you remove it what type you need.

The spindle length relates to the chainline. Depending on the type of
chainset this may need to be longer or shorter.
