I'm guessing she will be offline. If I recall, she said something about
spending the night in a motel, because the drive to Seattle was too long, or
had too much traffic, or something.
Oddly, most of her recent posts have disappeared from my reader, but not all
of them. My reader has a cancel function for outgoing posts, but I didn't
think the servers supported it. Maybe she cancelled a bunch of her posts.
At 400 pounds, she may well be saving her life. However, I find the whole
thing quite disturbing. I don't want to believe that she was doomed to
failure in her efforts to control weight through conventional means. When I
was 320 pounds, I faced a similar dilemma. I believe my HMO would have
covered the surgery, if I had asked for it. I'm glad I didn't do it, but,
if low carb had failed, I might be dead by now. The life expectancy of a 47
year old at 311 pounds was not good. I figured my biggest risk was the
nighttime vomiting. It would happen suddenly, while I was in a deep sleep.
I would awake struggling to breath while vomiting. Just one occasion of
inhaling the discharge, and I would have been dead. Every two weeks, or so,
I was changing the bedding in the middle of the night....

Whoa. That sounds very similar to what I went through. I though this was
acid reflux....it would burn my throat, too...but the scary part was waking
up not being able to breathe. I would never be in a deep sleep though and I
never had to change bedding.
