Hadrians Wall

Not any help to you I don't suppose but I'm also looking at doing the HW at
easter, coast to coast - probably from the east. In the process of looking
round now for some campsites along the route ( to fill in the bits where
there is no YHA) so that i can plan my days.

Never walked the whole wall in one trip but am an exile from the area
so have covered the whole route over the years - would recommend you
wait at least a couple of weeks (maybe until the end of Feb/beginning
of March) even if you're an experienced walker. The weather's v good
at the moment but wouldn't bank on it staying that way (especially
towards the West). When it snows along the wall it really snows! Now
the entire wall is being touted as a trail it's getting very popular so
going up there before easter might be an idea if you don't want too
much company! Whenever you go from an office in London I envy you!

I've just finished reading "A Walk Along the Wall" by Hunter Davies -
although it was originally written in 1974, it's still full of
interest for any wall walker today - a must!
