  1. I like to use food jars for storing barley, spices, etc.

    Perfect sized jars are pickle jars and spaghetti-sauce jars.

    How do I get the lingering smell out of the screw-cap ?
    I've tried washing, soaking, soaking in baking soda solution.....
    No luck so far. The pickle lid still smells pickly !

    Let it sit on a jar of spaghetti sauce for a while. (I've got a million
    good ideas.)
    Or put a little vanilla in a jar and cover it.
